Aparecium ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle your data when you use our Chrome extension.

1. Data Collection and Usage

We prioritize your privacy by design. Aparecium does not collect, store, share, or transmit any of your personal data to external servers.

Local Processing

Aparecium functions by analyzing the text you select on web pages. This analysis and any subsequent explanations or translations are performed entirely locally on your device using Google Chrome's built-in AI capabilities (Gemini Nano). Your selected text and the surrounding context never leave your browser environment.

2. Permissions

To function correctly, Aparecium requires certain permissions:

• Read and change all your data on the websites you visit (<all_urls>): This permission is strictly used to detect and read the text you actively select on a webpage so that the extension can provide explanations for it. We do not monitor your browsing history or read content you have not selected.
• Side Panel: Used to display the explanations and translations in the browser's side panel.
• ActiveTab: Used to interact with the currently active tab to retrieve your text selection.

3. Local Storage

We use your browser's local storage (Chrome Storage API) solely to save your user preferences, such as:

• Your preferred target language for translations.
• Your preferred length for explanations.

This data stays on your device and is not synced to any remote server.

4. Third-Party Services

Aparecium does not use any third-party analytics, tracking tools, or advertising services.

5. Changes to This Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page.
